The NPORS N723 Harness and Fall Arrest course is designed to ensure delegates have the knowledge and practical skills required to safely use a harness and fall arrest system in the workplace. This half day course is ideal for anyone working at height where fall protection is necessary. Candidates will learn about legal responsibilities, selecting the correct equipment, fitting and inspecting harnesses, and how to store and maintain fall arrest systems. This course supports a safer working environment and compliance with industry legislation.
Course Content
The course will cover:
- Industry awareness and the risks associated with working at height
- Operator responsibilities under current health and safety legislation
- Understanding the manufacturer’s handbook and other reference materials
- Identifying components of harness and fall arrest systems and their functions
- Carrying out safety and pre-use checks
- Selecting appropriate equipment for different tasks
- Correct fitting, use and removal of harnesses and lanyards
- PPE inspection, maintenance, and environmental care
- Safe storage and end-of-work inspections

Entry Requirements
- Delegates must have a good understanding of spoken and written English
- Delegates must bring one form of photographic ID (e.g. driving licence or passport)
- Full PPE must be worn during practical elements (including hard hat, safety boots, gloves, and hi-vis clothing)
Certification
- On successful completion, delegates will receive an NPORS Traditional Operator Card.
- Certification demonstrates competence and is valid for 5 years, subject to renewal.
