By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

• Demonstrate a basic understanding of the industry, associated risks, and operator responsibilities
• Understand and apply relevant legislation and manufacturer’s guidance
• Identify and explain the main components and controls of the cut-off saw
• Perform pre-operational checks in line with safety standards
• Select, inspect, and correctly fit suitable abrasive wheels
• Identify and wear appropriate PPE for the task
• Conduct work area safety checks and establish safety zones
• Prepare and operate the machine safely and efficiently
• Understand environmental considerations and safe disposal/storage of equipment
• Carry out shut down and end-of-shift procedures

• Classroom session – covering theory, safety legislation, controls, and responsibilities
• Practical training – hands on operation of the machine in a safe, controlled environment
• Assessment – NPORS theory and practical tests (novice and refresher)

• Good understanding of spoken and written English
• Photographic ID is required (Driving Licence or Passport)
• Delegates must bring appropriate PPE, including:

1. Hard hat
2. Safety boots
3. Hi-vis clothing
4. Gloves
5. Eye and ear protection

• On successful completion, delegates will receive an NPORS Traditional Operator Card.
• Certification demonstrates competence and is valid for 5 years, subject to renewal.
