- Any employee required to handle, lift or move loads in the workplace

- Supervisors and managers overseeing manual handling tasks
Course Duration
- Half Day Course (typically 3–4 hours)
- Duration may vary depending on class size and prior experience
Course Content
Participants will cover key areas of manual handling safety, including:
- Anatomy of the spine and understanding how injuries occur
- Common causes of back pain and injury prevention
- Supporting employees returning to work after a manual handling injury
- Manual handling laws and HSE guidance
- Core principles of safe lifting and moving
- Identifying unsafe systems of work
- How to carry out a manual handling risk assessment
- Practical demonstrations, practice and evaluation
Entry Requirements
- A good understanding of spoken and written English is essential
- No previous qualifications required
What to Bring
- PPE: Safety boots and gloves are required for participation
- Photographic ID (e.g. Driving Licence or Passport)
Certification
- On successful completion, delegates receive an In House Certificate of Training
- Certification is valid for 3 years, after which refresher training is recommended
