Successful completion leads to a Street Works Qualification Register (SWQR) card, valid for five years, proving competence to work on the highway.
What Does the Course Cover?
This 5 day comprehensive course combines classroom-based learning with practical training and includes:
- An overview of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991
- Principles of traffic management
- Signing, lighting, and guarding (Unit S1/O1)
- Safe excavation and reinstatement practices
- Risk assessments and site safety protocols
The training follows the latest CABWI assessment framework and HAUC(UK) guidelines.

How is the course assessed?
Assessment includes:
- Multiple-choice questions
- Practical assessments for each relevant unit
- Completion of all required modules for Operative or Supervisor roles
All assessments meet CABWI and HAUC(UK) national standards.
What certification will I receive?
On successful completion, delegates will be awarded:
- CABWI certificate for each unit achieved
- A Street Works Qualification Register (SWQR) card, valid for five years
